Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to share one of my favourite – not to mention healthy – quick and easy dinner recipes with you. After a long day at work I was craving Greek for dinner (and do I ever LOVE Greek food!) it’s so tasty and flavourful! I decided to make a trip to the grocery store on my way home from work to pick up what I needed to make my yummy Greek dinner. When you’re exhausted from a long day at work and you’re looking for a quick meal idea, here’s one to keep in mind:
Chicken Souvlaki on a pita! Yep – it’s that easy and did I mention tasty?!
Here’s all you need:
Greek Style Pita
Chicken or Pork Souvlaki Kabobs
Tzatziki Sauce
Lettuce
Preheat your oven to 425°F , place the kabobs on a baking sheet and cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Once the kabobs are cooked I take them out of the oven. Then I turn the oven on broil and place the Greek Style Pita in the oven to warm it up and get it a little crispy. Once the pita is warmed to your liking, remove from the oven and assemble your pita! Remove the kabobs off the stick and place it on the pita. Next, add the tzatziki sauce, sprinkle lettuce on top, fold it in half and then voila! – dinner is done in 15 minutes! Yes, ONLY 15 minutes! Wow – wouldn’t that be great if all meals could be ready in 15 minutes everyday?!
Give this a try if you want a light and healthy (and of course quick and easy) meal! For tonight’s dinner I ended up using pork as the grocery store I stopped off at was out of chicken souvlaki. The pork kabobs only contain 100 calories and 3.5 grams of fat for one kabob. The tzatziki sauce only contains 40 calories and 3 grams of fat for 3 tbsp. The Greek Style Pita only contains 210 calories and 2 grams of fat for one. I personally don’t worry too much about calories – it’s the fat content that I watch out for!
Hope you enjoy this quick Greek meal as much as I do! Have a great weekend!
