When The World Comes Together…

I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy and of course hanging in there. I still just can’t wrap my head around all that is happening right now.  I hope everyone is joining the worldwide movement to stop the spread of COVID-19 and helping to flatten the curve by staying home. This last week has felt surreal and has been so hard for everyone staying home and social distancing from your family and friends. However, quarantining is important to keep everyone safe and essential to slowing the spread of this virus.  It’s scary to see countries like Italy who have gone into lockdown and the growing cases of those being infected with the virus. It’s especially scary for me and all those with compromised immune systems.  People like me with lupus are considered immunocompromised and can be at a greater risk for infections in general.  It breaks my heart to see photos of people on spring break at  the beach not taking this virus seriously.  At this time it’s important for people to realize that the actions they take today will impact the weeks and months to come.  It has also been so comforting to see the world and communities come together to look after one another.  We’re starting to see how social media is bringing people together during this time of isolation.

How are you all feeling?  I’m hanging in there and trying to stay positive.  My work has closed for 3 weeks, with 2 more to go.  I’m not sure what’s going to happen in the weeks to come, but I pray that by us doing our part in staying home we’re slowing the spread.  I’ve been trying to keep busy at home, but I caved and ended up watching Contagion on Netflix.  Who would have thought back when this movie first came out that we would be going through something like that.  It’s still hard to believe this is real life right now.  Like  many, I started spending so much time thinking why is this happening?  I know some people are not religious and some are. I truly believe it’s either Karma or a time-out punishment that God is warning the whole world to wake up and smarten it up! People abuse and pollute the planet, take life for granted, not showing care for others, not appreciating things or taking things for granted,  too much violence, crime and abuse and list goes on and on…and of course forgetting about turning to God to look up to him, appreciating the wonderful gifts he created for us in this world. I know for sure that a lot of people are praying right now for this nightmare to be over and to get back to our normal lives because I am one of them. I have been praying and sometimes read the Bible before l go to sleep. I truly hope to see that the world will be a much better place once everything gets back to normal but time will tell…

I hope everyone has found ways to cope and help them get through this unsettling time.  I’ve started my own personal to-do list and wanted to share some tips and ideas to help you through this time of social distancing.

  1. Clean your house, get rid of clutter in your cabinets and drawers.
  2. Organize your closet and drawers
  3. If you have clothes you no longer wear set up an account on Poshmark to sell your items
  4. Do some painting if you have paint
  5. Go for walks around the neighbourhood to get some fresh air
  6. Do more cooking and try new recipes
  7. Clean up your garden, to have it ready for when the warm weather hits
  8. If you have a side hustle job that you can work from home, keep yourself busy with that
  9. Exercise at home, throw on a workout video or try one of the workout apps (I have P90X workout videos and HITT workout apps)
  10. Go for a drive but don’t go anywhere inside
  11. Only go out when you need to get some groceries or try to order online
  12. Watch some movies and TV shows on Netflix at night time
  13. Read up some good books
  14. Take some online courses

These are some of the things that I have been doing to keep busy at home and I can’t see myself getting bored. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy! Keep positive! ❤️

How are you holding up with social distancing?

Your slippers are so cute and cozy! I’m trying to organize around the house, too – and I need to watch Contagion!

I’m glad you’re attempting to come at this scenario in a positive manner. I’m so sorry to hear that things have been so challenging for you, with being home AND immunocompromised. That’s a terrible combination – but I hope you can stay safe and healthy (and enjoy those activities you mentioned).

Great ideas to keep yourself occupied! I already had a 2-days-per-week teleworking agreement before (we’ve been at 100% teleworking at my work since March 12 and they’ll let us know when we can come back). I’m sort of used to working from home and as an introvert, I’ve been thriving! My extroverted fiance though… not so much lol

That’s good you are used to working from home and don’t mind staying home. Just have to wait and see what happens with going back to work. I am supposed to go back on April 5th but they don’t know what’s going to happen after that at this point. Hope you and your fiancé are staying safe and healthy! ❤️

We’re doing okay, all things considered. Such a good time to reflect, pray, read the Bible, catch up on things we never have a chance to do, and try out new things!

Great suggestions! My home is definitely now clean and organized to a T – that is the first thing I did when I self-quarantined! I absolutely miss my gym though, I always thrive in my group classes. But we must adapt so we can get past this!

It’s such a crazy time right now and the only thing we can do be is hopeful and positive. Setting a routine has been helpful as well as working out while being at home. Hoping this ends soon so we can all go back to our normal routines.

Great actionable tips! I’d love to try new recipes, if only the shelves weren’t completely cleared out! I think I can try new drink recipes though, either that or get really creative with what I can find at the store (or in delivery)! Thank you for sharing and stay safe!

I know it’s craxy with the shelves being empty and I think people just went overboard crazy acting like the world was ending! I find Walmart is the worst place to go right now because everything is picked over and I prefer other stores where everything is restocked. Stay safe and healthy! ❤️
