Diet Tips

I often have people ask me for diet tips so I thought I’d share my tips on healthy eating. I usually watch what I eat but I don’t deprive myself from having something I enjoy eating. Most importantly I ALWAYS eat breakfast every morning which is a MUST! But if you don’t have much of an appetite in the morning, have something small like a hard boiled egg with a piece of toast or make a fruit smoothie. Eating breakfast increases your metabolism throughout the day which is why eating first thing in the morning is a must.
I usually have a protein for breakfast which would be eggs with avocado or quiche with a piece of toast, but sometimes I make a fruit smoothie (Strawberry & Banana is my fav!) to drink on my way to work to give me energy and keep me feeling refreshed! For lunch I usually have a mixed green salad with protein added to it. I love chicken breast in my salads which is my fav! Sometimes I put hard boiled eggs or tuna in my salad. I also like to add some chick peas or string mozerella cheese in my salad as well as red onions, red/green peppers and cucumbers to add some vitamins to my diet. I prefer using flaxseed oil mixed with two tsp of apple cider vinegar to use as a dressing instead of using a salad dressing because many store bought dressings contain a lot of sodium and sugars which does NOT do wonders to your health. Flaxseed oil is a good healthy fat that your body needs and helps to satisfy your hunger as well. Good fat helps you to keep your weight off and not keep the extra weight on – only the bad fats do! Apple cider helps to burn fat and speeds up your metabolism.

I usually have two snacks a day which would be source of protein like:
String mozzarella cheese
Hummus with veggies
Hard boiled egg
Greek yogurt

For dinner I enjoy a variety of dishes like:
Stirfry with rice or noodles
Pasta
Chicken fajitas or chicken wraps
Homemade chilli
Homemade soups with a sandwich
Grilled chicken with potatoes and vegetables
Homemade pizza
Chicken broccoli casserole

I personally prefer homemade cooked meals since it tastes delicious and is a lot healthier to eat as opposed to processed and take out food which are high in fat, sodium and sugar.

Eat well and Live well! 🙂
